My name is Amber Bradford, I use she/her/hers pronouns, and I am a certified full spectrum doula based in Austin, TX. I am a grad student at the University of Houston, where I am obtaining my MS in Social Work (Go Coogs!). As a woman of color, I understand the many challenges that are faced with the current healthcare system and how they don't often benefit those that it's meant to serve and care for. I want to provide advocacy for birthing people in my community and support in reproductive care, as well as be apart of the fight to eliminate racial disparities in reproductive health.
In my free time you can catch me reading books, in nature enjoying scenery, studying, binge watching shows/movies, or trying new foods.

With a newborn as a first time mom, Amber made my life a little bit easier. Her experience, and approach with postpartum support made me feel more confident and calm with my newborn. She assisted me and encouraged me with my struggles of breastfeeding and offered comforting advice. She checked in with me on days she was not here and sent me valuable information. With the exhaustion I had the first few weeks, Amber helped during the night with feeds and changes so I could rest. When attending pediatric appointment with us, she always made sure to ask the questions that we forgot and felt like another member of our family. Amber has a very soothing and familiar presence to her. When I felt unsure with how things were progressing she kept me strong and rooted in the beliefs and decisions I had made. She helped us balance our very new life with baby, while offering support that felt very individualized; taking our needs and lifestyle into consideration and accommodating to those. I suffered severe PPD and Amber was the person who recognized this condition and made sure I was doing okay emotionally without ever making me feel self conscious about it. When we have our next baby, Amber will be there from pregnancy, to delivery, to postpartum support. She is truly remarkable and I would recommend her over and over again. Thank you, Amber!
